poolblood has a gift for creating bedroom pop that takes the listener on a journey far more expansive than most other work in the genre. ‘twinkie’ is their new single, and a great example of their barrier-breaking, boundary-pushing work. It’s a luscious, melodic track which is perfectly orchestrated to show off the development from the simple guitar-backed intro to the warm explosion that is the track’s climax. They explain that the song is “about the tenderness of time, time as a source of love, and the way time is the ultimate parent.
